Kanaskat Reach (Phase 2) Salmon Habitat Acquisition Project
Project Description
- Located in the Middle Green River Subwatershed
- This project has the potential to protect up to 154 acres of riverfront property (shown in yellow in the photo below)
- Builds on Kanaskat Phase 1 and Kanaskat Phase 3 projects
- Project will contribute to Salmon Habitat Plan project MG-2 (page 7-34)

Importance for Salmon
- This area is used for spawning and rearing by threatened Chinook salmon
- Property includes four perennial streams that help provide cool water and insect nutrients to the Green River
- Adjacent to large tracts of publicly-owned open space
- Supports future projects carried out through the Green/Duwamish Ecosystem Restoration Project
