Watershed Map Showing Land Uses

The map below shows the Green/Duwamish and Central Puget Sound Watershed, also known as Water Resource Inventory Area (WRIA) 9.

Map LegendEach watershed in Puget Sound has its own populations of salmon and its own particular salmon habitat problems. For that reason, salmon habitat planning efforts are organized by watershed or Water Resource Inventory Area.

The map shows current land uses and dominant vegetation types in King County watersheds. Use the map legend at right to identify what land use the colors on the map refer to.

While the map shows it as part of the Kitsap watershed (WRIA 15), Vashon/Maury Island is considered part of WRIA 9 for salmon habitat recovery purposes.

The Green/Duwamish and Central Puget Sound Watershed also is divided into subwatersheds to help us understand and solve salmon habitat problems. The subwatershed map also shows city boundaries and major roads.
